Kaya is a traditional jam that originates from Malaysia. This spread is popular throughout Southeast Asia and is normally spread on toast and paired with tiles of cold butter. Conventionally its main ingredients include eggs, coconut milk, pandan leaves and palm sugar.
Our goal at Furrmien is to extend the life of undesirable produce through alternative cooking techniques. On a trip to the quick sale section at the market, we came across unwanted avocados. They were still edible and if not bought would probably go to waste. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to incorporate this ingredient into kaya jam, thus creating our modern version of kaya - AVOKAYA.
AVOKAYA can be spread on toast with some vegan butter (as is commonly eaten) or used in pastries. Ultimately, experimenting is encouraged as that is how we do it at Furrmien.
OUR AVOKAYA IS VEGAN, GLUTEN AND NUT FREE.
Ingredients: ripe avocados, coconut milk, pandan leaves, dark brown sugar, cornstarch, salt.
